What began in a family garage in 2010 was never meant to be just another retail store. It was built on a deep, lifelong passion for riding and a commitment to elevating Namibian cycling. Over the years, that small workshop has evolved into a cornerstone of the local community, expanding into flagship stores in both Windhoek and Swakopmund.

Where It All Began
Mannie started operating as Mannies Bike Mecca (MBM) while still actively competing in Europe in 2010. He opened his first “shop” from the garage of his parents’ house in Pioneerspark. By 2011, the entertainment and braai area became the showroom, another room his office, and his sister’s bedroom a storeroom.
As word spread and demand grew, expansion was inevitable. Driven by the belief that "Impossible is Nothing," the search for a permanent home for MBM began. During a training ride, Mannie spotted a house for sale in Acacia Street, and the vision took root.
Converting a family home into a full-scale, dedicated bike shop was no small task. The purchase contract was signed in June 2012, and after rezoning and construction, MBM officially opened its doors on 12 July 2013, built from the ground up as a true destination for the Namibian cycling community.
Expanding to the Coast
Driven by a growing coastal cycling community, Mannies Bike Mecca officially expanded to Swakopmund over Easter weekend in April 2017. Located on Moses Garoëb Street, the store opened its doors with a grand celebration starting on Friday, 14 April 2017, bringing together riders from across the country for a celebratory fun ride and the West Coast MTB Challenge.
Today, the Swakopmund store carries the MBM legacy forward, offering top-tier bikes, expert workshop support, and local advice tailored specifically for coastal trail and desert riding.
